About the Event
September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness, reducing stigma, encouraging meaningful conversations, and reminding our communities that help and hope are available.
In recognition of Suicide Prevention Month, Grace Baptist Church, Steadfast Women in Ministry, Inc. (S.W.I.M.), and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), present LET’S Save Lives: An Introduction to Suicide Prevention for the African American Community.
This community-centered program addresses suicide and mental health through a culturally relevant lens, while equipping participants with practical information they can use to support family members, friends, congregants, colleagues, and others in their communities.
During the training, participants will learn how to recognize suicide warning signs and risk factors, begin potentially life-saving conversations with someone who may be struggling, and help connect individuals to appropriate resources and support.
